The Line and Substation Equipment Research Group was established with the aim of developing advanced technologies and addressing the challenges faced by the electricity industry in the field of power transmission and distribution networks.

The research group has been at the forefront of various areas, including high-capacity power transmission and increasing transmission line capacity, transformer monitoring and condition assessment, substation automation, distribution network loss reduction, and optimal distribution network design. It has also completed numerous projects in cooperation with Tavanir, Regional Electricity Companies, and Electricity Distribution Companies.

In accordance with the missions of the Line and Substation Equipment Research Group, and with the aim of aligning its activities with the mission of promoting targeted research and development in the country’s electricity and energy sectors and making effective use of existing capabilities, the group has planned and coordinated its activities to enhance research outputs and improve the quality of research in the electricity and energy industry.

In this regard, the optimal management of resources, including intellectual and human capital as well as hardware and software resources, to advance targeted research and promote teamwork in the field of line and substation equipment within the electricity industry is one of the group’s primary objectives.

  • Giving special emphasis to human capital development, research advancement, and innovation in the field of line and substation equipment in order to enhance capabilities and productivity in this area and address the following needs:

  • Conducting fundamental, developmental, and applied research in the field of line and substation equipment

  • Conducting strategic, large-scale, long-term, and high-risk studies and research projects for the electricity industry in the field of line and substation equipment

  • Conducting technology foresight, policy research, and planning for advanced technologies in the field of line and substation equipment

  • Cooperation and interaction with key stakeholders and influential organizations in the country’s electricity and energy sectors in the field of line and substation equipment
