The Intelligent Control Systems Research Group was established in 1998 under the name Dispatching and Telemetry within the Network Control and Management Research Center at the Niroo Research Institute (NRI). In 2015, following changes in the organizational structure and objectives of the Niroo Research Institute, the group was renamed the Power Network Control Systems Research Group.
The group is one of the Niroo Research Institute’s systems-oriented research groups, providing engineering services to the electricity industry through projects in futures studies, technology foresight, policy research, and proof-of-concept studies in the field of power network control systems.
Since the power grid at various levels—including transmission, sub-transmission, distribution, and low-voltage networks—is considered critical infrastructure comprising a wide range of equipment and components, its monitoring and control are of particular importance. The group conducts research and development activities in this field, focusing on the advancement of technologies and solutions for the monitoring, control, and management of power network systems.
