In 2014, the Industrial Electronics Research Group was renamed the Power Electronics Research Group, and subsequently focused its activities specifically on strategic research studies, the development and formulation of strategic guidance documents, and the design, manufacturing, and implementation of large-scale applied projects required by the electricity industry in the field of power electronics.

The group serves as a research reference and scientific hub in the field of various types of power electronic converters used in the electricity industry. Its activities include research, design, manufacturing, and localization of converters for applications such as solar power plants, transmission networks, distribution networks, energy storage systems, various types of compensators, and other related applications.

To date, the group has successfully completed and commissioned several national, industrial, laboratory, and research projects.

  • Converters for Renewable Energy Sources and Distributed Generation Systems (including Photovoltaics, Wind Energy, Energy Storage Systems, etc.)

  • Converters and Auxiliary Equipment for Transmission and Distribution Networks (including HVDC, FACTS, Custom Power Devices, etc.)

  • Converters for Electric Transportation Systems (including Electric Vehicles, Electric Trains, and Chargers)

  • Control Systems for Electrical Machines and Drives in Industry

  • Lighting Equipment

  • Wireless Power Transfer

  • Power Electronic Transformers (PETs)
