The Metallurgy Research Group has been active at the Niroo Research Institute (NRI) since 1998, with the aim of addressing the research and urgent needs of the electricity industry in the fields of power generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption.
The presence of experienced faculty members and specialists in this field has consistently contributed to resolving numerous challenges faced by the electricity industry and other industrial sectors. The group’s main activities include applied, foresight-oriented, and innovative research; research and development (R&D); training; and consulting services.
The research team consists of materials and metallurgy specialists with diverse areas of expertise, including materials characterization, casting, metal forming, corrosion, powder metallurgy, and welding. The group’s research staff includes faculty members and researchers holding Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees. Depending on the nature and requirements of each project, university professors and industry experts are also engaged.
The group’s members have extensive experience in areas such as life assessment and life estimation, powder metallurgy, degradation analysis, high-temperature corrosion, non-destructive testing (NDT), manufacturing and refurbishment, high-temperature coatings, and related fields. To date, the group has successfully completed hundreds of research and industrial projects.
