The Legal Research Group was established in response to the economic and legal transformations in the country’s electricity industry and energy sector, which entered a new phase following the enactment of the Law on the Implementation of the General Policies of Article 44 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran (2007).

In response to these developments, the Niroo Research Institute established the Legal Research Group to monitor legal developments and their implications for the privatization of the power sector, assess the feasibility of designing and developing required educational programs, and prepare relevant academic publications.

Accordingly, the Legal Research Group was established in the summer of 2015 with the objectives of developing a master’s degree program in Energy Law, preparing an Energy Law Encyclopedia, examining the feasibility of drafting a Comprehensive Electricity Law of Iran, conducting legal research projects related to the electricity and energy industries, and providing legal advisory opinions to the Niroo Research Institute.

The group conducts research projects with the support of faculty members, researchers, and experts from various fields of law, including private law, international trade law, public law, criminal law, and other related disciplines. It also continuously provides its legal advisory opinions and expertise to the management of the Niroo Research Institute.
