The Foresight and Policy Research Group of the Niroo Research Institute (NRI) was established in March 2015 by order of the Institute’s President in response to the growing need of the country’s electricity industry for long-term perspectives and strategic analysis.

The objectives of the Foresight and Policy Research Group focus on establishing and institutionalizing continuous and systematic knowledge of alternative futures in the power sector, promoting a proactive, forward-looking, and participatory approach to shaping the future at governmental, corporate, and sectoral levels, and strengthening the institutional role of foresight in the policymaking process.

The group also seeks to contribute to the development of a transformative and forward-looking technology and innovation ecosystem in the power industry in support of sustainable development. In line with its long-term vision, the group aims to establish itself as a credible and influential national and international authority in the fields of foresight and policy research in the electricity industry.
